Biography
Oh wow, I get to talk about myself! I've always loved music, got a music ed degree in the early 80's but really just wanted to play music so didn't do much teaching. Have played flute in community orchestras, early music ensembles, churches and also done solo work but always in the back of my mind I've wanted to know more about jazz. So in 2000 I took a summer jazz course with Jamey Abersold which started the whole process. Since 2001 I've studied jazz locally with Joe Locascio, Dennis Dotson and Paul English and in each case have had my musical mind blown away by their artistry and deep understanding of the language of jazz.
I took up hammer dulcimer in 2005 and recently have been recording some original music with flute and dulcimer tracks. Some of that project is included here.
I'm sure I'll think of more musical things to share as time goes on, until then check out- www.villageschools.org a project in Tanzania that is bringing life and hope to those in most need.
- Shalom
