“Sometimes it’s all in my head, my heart just needs some oxygen, breathing should come naturally”…In the seven years that I played competitive tennis, one of the biggest struggles in my game was my mental game. I would over-think the little things, especially in my backhand. I wasn’t as confident in my backhand as I was in my forehand so that caused me to question it and think about it too much, which then made the rhythm in my game lose its feeling and the simplest things would no longer come naturally.

That’s the idea behind ‘Where Is Your Soul’, the process of losing the feeling of life and the simplicity of existing because we are over thinking the things that should just come naturally. Natural things like loving and believing, hoping and dreaming; our souls crave that deep connection that we receive when we bypass our mind and listen to our heart. May we open our hearts to the passion that inspires us to readily believe, fearlessly hope and instinctively love.

Thank you for reading my blog. The songs on my new EP are a sincere outflow that I hope will vibe with you down even to the rhythm of your soul. The textures of life are spontaneous and can trip us out but remembering that we’re not alone can make the ride a little smoother.  

With all that said, I’m excited to invite you to an “official listening party”. Indie Extreme artists collaborate for Quimi’s “Where Is Your Soul” EP release
 
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 2010) – Black Shoe Records/Indie Extreme award-winning singer-songwriter, Matt Brouwer is producing the latest effort from California native Quimi Alaniz. Quimi embarked on her first full tour opening for Matt and his band last Spring. Touring together created an opportunity for both to develop a creative connection inspiring the direction of her new music and career. Quimi moved to Houston, TX in the Summer/Fall and began writing with Matt and collecting songs for this project. The pair decided on six songs that challenged Quimi with a new sound. With Brouwer’s input she has created a sound all her own that shows her heart and soul and goes deeper than ever before. Quimi said, “I want this album to speak truth and Matt helped me find the words to convey something real and authentic.”  

Quimi, M&M Ministries/Indie Extreme, is a young artist with goals of spreading God’s message internationally through her music. A nationally ranked tennis player at 16 years old, she always dreamed of becoming a singer, but it wasn’t untill these past few years that she left tennis and began to pursue her dream. Quimi’s debut, self-titled, album delivered a #1 single, “All For Love” in 2009 on the CRW Global AC, INSPO and Canada Charts. The album was filled with heartfelt songs in both English and Spanish. Quimi continues her signature multi-cultural, bilingual authenticity in the new project.

Matt Brouwer is an award winning Canadian singer/songwriter. His album “Where’s Our Revolution” produced by Grammy winning producer, Michael Omartian and distributed by Indie Extreme/Universal Music Christian Group/Fontana, has earned him a 2009 Covenant Award for “Best Folk/Roots Song of the Year” for “The Other Side” and “Fan Choice Artist of the Year”. The album is currently nominated for both a JUNO award (Canadian equivalent of a GRAMMY) and an East Coast Music Award. Brouwer’s single “Sometimes” has recently charted in 2010 as high as #19 on the Billboard CCM AC Chart. Matt is thrilled to have the opportunity produce and work with Quimi on her new project.
