    The Sonflowerz began as a local worship band in Colorado Springs in 1999.  This all-girl band, led by sisters Elissa and Becca Leander, quickly became known in their city for their modern worship songs and talent at an early age.  But it wasn't their popularity that moved them to sing.  "The driving force behind our ministry is our passion to see others experience God's love in the same way we have,” says Elissa (guitarist, lead vocalist and songwriter for The Sonflowerz).  She explains further, “I was 14-years-old when this conviction materialized through my music. I had just picked up the guitar, and the first song that I completed was called, 'Use Me'.  It was a prayer for God to use me to touch my generation.  Although I was a bit hesitant to get up on a stage, God gave me the courage to share this passion in my heart.  Today He has more than answered that first prayer.”

Through the encouragement of a youth pastor, The Sonflowerz became worship leaders for their youth group of 30.  "It all snowballed from there," explains Becca (bassist, guitarist, keyboardist and background vocalist), "We were asked to play at citywide outreach events, radio stations, live TV broadcasts, women's conferences, and venues all over the state."

The Sonflowerz have toured full-time throughout the United States and United Kingdom since 2003.  During one of their U.K. tours one teenage girl told the band, “Me and my friends are loving your album.  You were absolutely fabulous when you came to play at my church.  We all hope that you will come back and play again soon.”
